Theater NOW is auditioning women for the five (5) roles in the play, “5 LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE” by Evan Linder & Andrew Hobgood.

Auditions will take place FEBRUARY 4 & 5 , 7:00 to 10:00 PM at the Lowry Lab Theater, 350 St. Peter St., St. Paul MN. (map and parking details below)

5 LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE, directed by Shelli Place, is having its Minneapolis premiere after successful runs in New York, Chicago & Los Angeles. Set in 1956 in Middle America, it tells the story of the members attending the annual Quiche Breakfast of the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of the Gertrude Stein during the days of the Nuclear “Red Scare”.

ROLES: These women are “proper” yet unmarried women of the 1950’s. Well-mannered, well-coifed and dedicated to their organization and it’s Golden Rule; No Men-No Meat-All Manners. Each character carries a secret.

Lulie Stanwyck: President of the Club – 30-40 -Strong, take-charge kind of gal who is all about order and the protection of the organization. Keeps everyone “on-task” while guarding her own situation.

Wren Robin: Events Chairwoman – 30-40- Organizer and hostess of the meeting who is dedicated to the history and preservation of the town. Can get very excited about almost anything.

Veronica “Vern” Schultz: Buildings and Ground Chairman – 35-42 –A force to be reckoned; part engineer, part cowgirl, this woman could be a general. Plays softball, a Mr. fix it kind of gal.

Ginny Cadbury: Secretary –Late 20’s –Originally from Manchester, England, she is the newest member of the group and is still learning how to “fit in” and make everything “just right”. Very organized but a bit naïve.

Dale Prist: Historian – Late 20’s – Youngest member of the group who is always snapping photos and spouting history of the town and it’s founder. A former sprinter and very confident gal who has a relaxed manner about her while wearing culottes.

PAY: Scale per contract. (Status pending)… Union and Non-Union casting/pay.

REHEARSALS are evenings and some weekends beginning March 4th. Performances are April 4 – 14, 2013 and May 2 – 12, 2013 Thursdays through Sundays. All Performances will take place at Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55408.

AUDITION INFO: Please prepare a 1-minute, memorized contemporary monologue (serious or comic). Actors will also do cold readings from the script.

WHAT TO DO: Go to http://theaternow-5.youcanbook.me/ and reserve your audition time for February 4th or 5th, between 7:00 and 10:00 PM. Bring headshot and resume to the audition, as well as a calendar to list conflicts. Callback appointments will be scheduled for Feb 7th.

Performances will be at Intermedia Arts is a stimulating, unique, relaxed, stylish artistic hub located in the heart of Uptown, with a black box theater and spacious gallery areas it is a fantastic place for drama, dance and musical performances. Located on Lyndale near 28th Street.

 The Lowry Lab Theater is inside the Lowry Building, on the first floor; follow signs. There is small signage outside the Lowry Building, but you will not see any large theater signs… you must go inside the Lowry Building.
